Vice President Human Resources
Jody Bomba joined the Los Angeles Mission in June, 2006 and serves as Vice President of Human Resources. She brings to the organization more than 30 years experience in leadership and management in both non-profit and for-profit organizations in the US and Asia. Her background includes service in the banking industry, the construction field, as well as higher education and Christian humanitarian organizations. Bomba is passionate about providing leadership and professional development to people who lead people. She believes that God is honored when employees are treated fairly and with dignity and, as such, embraces her role as a Human Resources leader as an act of worship.
Prior to coming to the LA Mission, Ms Bomba served as Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Foothill Independent Bank, where she instituted Foothill Independent University, a comprehensive training and leadership development center for staff at every level of the organization.
Her passion for education and development was realized in a traditional higher education setting, when, as an adjunct faculty member, Jody Bomba taught Human Resource Management to graduate students through the Azusa Pacific University School of Business and Management and Center for Adult Programs. In addition to teaching at the university, Bomba served there for 9 years as APU's Associate Director of Human Resources during a time of unprecedented growth and change within the institution. She has also served as an HR consultant whose main clientele includes churches and non-profit organizations.
Prior to entering the HR field, Ms Bomba served in finance, development and telecommunications at World Vision, an international Christian humanitarian organization. She also served as part of the development team at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. Additionally, she and her husband owned a successful landscape contracting firm.
Bomba earned both a bachelors degree in business and a master's degree in organizational management from Azusa Pacific University. She has also been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute.
In the mid-1970's Ms Bomba operated a Christian center for US Service personnel in Seoul, South Korea, through the former United Presbyterian church. There, she met her husband, David, who was serving in the US Army. The Bomba's have been married for more than 30 years and have 4 grown children and 1 grandson. They reside in Glendora, California and worship at Christ's Church of the Valley in San Dimas.
