UTI
graduates face many challenges as they re-enter society. None is more
daunting than overcoming
the obstacles to living wage employment. Barriers to employment
can easily discourage and overwhelm those looking for work.
Our Career Development Department provides students and graduates
with the practical training needed to secure entry-level career
positions. Services include training and counseling to teach
the skills of resume writing, interviewing and job search.
In
order to ensure that participants are equipped to live
independently when they leave the Mission, they are required
to secure a
job in the community and are mentored in the management
of their income. In addition, transitional housing is provided
while the Mission facilitates the individual’s efforts
to find permanent residency. Overall,
the goal in transition is for individuals to re-establish themselves
as productive members of society, returning successfully
to their families, churches and communities.
