Rowan Vansleve serves as President of the historic Los Angeles Mission, where he leads one of the country’s most well known organizations supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. At his core, Rowan is a leader who believes in showing up every day by bringing energy, heart, and a deep sense of purpose to the Mission’s work. He’s helping to guide the organization into its next chapter, growing its impact while staying true to its long standing legacy on Skid Row.
Under his leadership, the Los Angeles Mission continues to provide life-changing resources such as shelter, meals, recovery programs, and long-term support, while expanding its role in addressing homelessness across Los Angeles.

What sets Rowan apart is how personal this work is to him. He’s just as comfortable rolling up his sleeves alongside staff as he is sitting down with community leaders, elected officials, or donors. He has a natural ability to bring people together, build momentum, and keep everyone focused on what matters most, treating every person with Love, Dignity & Respect.
In addition to leading the Mission, Rowan also serves as President of Hope the Mission, where he works closely with founder and CEO Ken Craft. Together, they’ve helped grow innovative programs and housing solutions across Southern California. This unique dual role allows Rowan to connect tradition with innovation, expanding what’s possible in how communities respond to homelessness.
Originally from Australia, Rowan has spent more than two decades working in nonprofit leadership in Los Angeles. He’s also known for going to great lengths, literally, to raise awareness, support, and financial resources. From long-distance runs and cross-country bike rides to spending 100 hours unsheltered, Rowan puts himself in uncomfortable situations to better understand the realities people face and to inspire others to take action.
While he has been recognized by leaders at every level, what matters most to Rowan is the impact being made every day. Through his work, the Los Angeles Mission continues to be more than a place of refuge, it’s a place of hope, transformation, and a powerful force for change in the fight to end homelessness.
